The Rapido new Mercedes Benz Vito Sport

Mercedes has launched the new Vito powered by a 3.0litre V6 diesel with a sports styling to match the punch under the bonnet. The Vito Sport comes in two body styles; panel van and dualiner version. The Brabus styling includes some very high-end features such as 18″ alloys, Pur-R-Rim with fog lights, ‘Sport-X’ badges, Illuminated exits, Cruise control and 6 CD-changer. If that’s not enough to get your customers going the potential top speed of 122mph and a 0-60 acceleration time of a mere 8.3 seconds will.

The new Toyota Hilux Arctic!

Thinking about winter? Think about the new Toyota Hilux Artic pickup. The new Hilux arrives with a choice of common-rail turbo diesel engines; The 3.0 litre ensures responsive and refined acceleration in all gears whatever cargo you have in the back, and the more economical but equally impressive 2.5 litre can tow a braked trailer of 2250 kg without the slightest strain.

Most recently the pickup received some great press after the popular BBC motoring show Top Gear [Clarkson, Hammond and May], put it through its paces in its ‘indestructible’ test i.e. floating it out to sea- sort of! Putting it on top of a multi-story building before it was demolished and amazingly starting it with only the most basic of tools. Indestructible maybe but what’s new with the Artic? The latest version comes with two trim levels the HL2 and HL3. The first boasts body colour coding, matching fascia, air-con and MP3 CD radio system, all very nice with the HL3 having a touch of chrome plating, alloy wheels and side steps. If your in the brick-laying, landscaping, plastering or roofing trade then you couldn’t go far wrong with getting what still appears to be one of the most popular pickups in the U.K

Proven technology the new Vauxhall Vivaro

The stylish new Vauxhall Vivaro has the ability to shift an awesome range of payloads (1043kg to 1271kg) thanks to its transmission and Euro 4 compliant turbo diesel engines. The line up includes the cost efficient 90PS and 115PS 2.0CDTI 16v units and the powerful 146PS 2.5 CDTI 16v engine. With these highly efficient engines and large tank capacity keeping the van on the road not in the garage it lead to the new Vivaro being crowned outright winner in the commercial vehicle category of the AA/ALD Commercial FleetWorld (2006) MPG Marathon.

It’s a great ride too! The rear suspension uses progressive-rate springs and gas dampers, which adapt to the vans payload giving a smooth drive with consistent and re-assured handling. The side doors can easily accommodate a standard Euro pallet and a flat load floor enables easy forklift access. With superb cab ergonomics and optional satellite navigation with LCD colour monitor, it’s a leader in its class. As the manufactures mentioned, ‘this Luton built contender continues to set the standard by which all medium vans are judged’. Its available with standard or high roof options, short or long wheelbases and now a ‘Combi’ derived nine-seater.

The new Ford Transit van of the year

The 2007 ‘van of the year’ has been awarded to the all-new Ford Transit. The votes were cast by leading commercial vehicle journalists from 19 European countries. As well as the new Ford Transit being the consistently elected one of the most popular workhorses in Europe in terms of ‘fit-for-purpose’ it now boasts the very latest in-van gadgetry, sat-nav, cruise control, bluetooth and a clever ‘auxillary-in’ socket which allows drivers or passengers to plug in music players like iPods to play through the audio system, their own research suggested the top three music choices for van drivers are pop 56%, rock 15% and R&B 10%.

Couple all this with a completely new range of Euro IV- compliant TDCi diesel engines it lead to an official statement from the ‘Van of the Year’ jury saying: “In announcing the decision, the jury was particularly impressed by the fact that Ford’s engineers have taken one of Europe’s best vans and made it even better”.
